Pastor Hanscomb
As a Roman Catholic seminarian I diligently searched throughout history and simply could not find the thing that would quench my spiritual hunger and fill the void that was so ever present and so painfully real. At the Oka Monastery northwest of Montreal I was praying my rosary as I walked throughout the graveyard. Walking among the dead I paused for a moment in my ritualistic praying and asked God if he would simply show me the way. On the most wonderful and memorable day of my life the Lord revealed himself to me as His spirit lead me to an old fashioned altar. It was at the United Pentecostal Church of Plaster Rock where I felt the presence of the Lord for the first time in my life. When I kneeled at the altar I knew that I was not in a confessional box in front of just another priest. I was before the High Priest, the King of all the Kings and Lord of all the Lords. When I walked in the door of that church that morning I had no idea that I was about to meet the Rose of Sharon. I quickly forsook my studies toward the priesthood and embraced this wonderful knowledge of who Jesus really is. As pastor of the Ashland City United Pentecostal Church, I am very much aware that we have all walked down unprofitable roads. We have all been close to things that have lead us down dead end streets. Be re-assured today that the Lord has always used people who have made mistakes. If you however have been fortunate enough in your lifetime to have met the master, been baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost - If you are living a Holy life I must say my friend, you got it right! Lillian Buquo
It has been almost sixty years since I began my journey with the Lord. It was in the small basement church at 51st and Delaware Avenue (West Nashville Pentecostal Church) that I repented, was baptized in Jesus Name and was filled with the Holy Ghost. During the years, there have been mountain top experiences and valleys to go through. At all times Jesus has been there for me - He has never failed. There was a time that I had a special need in my life. I prayed about it but I didn't feel the Lord. I needed a sign from Him. I knelt by my bed and really prayed, "Dear Lord, please send me a sign. Let me know you hear me." Trying to pray and crying hard a voice came, "Get your Bible." I ignored the voice twice before the voice came again, "Get your Bible." This time I went for my Bible. Tearfully, I flipped the pages, not knowing what I was looking for. I reached Matthew 9:28. The words stood out as raised letters, "Believe ye, that I am able to do this?" I praised Him, "Lord I know you can, thank you!' I accepted this as a sign. One sister at the church explained to me that truly it was a sign from God - the best sign - His Word. Earthly signs can be doubted but never His Word. The year 1985 was a year of trials and miracles for me. January 1st, my place of employment for 35 years closed. Many could not find new employment. God opened the door for a new job for me. On Saturday, January 19, three of us went to Fairview to prepare the Sunday School rooms. The temperature dropped to 19 degrees. We decided to return to Nashville. The snow had turned to ice on the roads. The car began to go sideways and slid into a ditch and hit a telephone pole. My right leg was severely injured. We prayed and I called out, "In the Name of Jesus." We were transported to the hospital in an ambulance. The doctors were concerned and said I would need a blood transfusion, an operation to remove a bone from my hip and have it place in my leg and my leg set. None of this happened. God performed the miracle of healing and my leg was made whole. The doctors and nurses were amazed that for four weeks, I never had anything for pain, not even an aspirin. Praise God! I was able to return to work and things were going fine. On August 17, after a ladies meeting on Faith, in which I had given each lady a bookmark with Faith on it our faith was really tried. I became ill and could not breathe. In the emergency room I heard the doctors say my pulse was gone and blood pressure low. They had told my family I would not live through the night. Once again, God answered prayers - another miracle in my life. I lived! While lying there I could see book marks with Faith written on them floating about. Meanwhile, at my home, Ann and Judy were staying with my grandchildren. They were praying as were others. Judy said they had seen angels in and out of my room. The miracle happened. Every test was negative. The doctors said the cause would remain a mystery. In 1994, I was diagnosed with cancer. I had surgery and took radiation treatments. Again God answered prayers and I was healed. It has been 12 years and I AM CANCER FREE. I would not take anything for my journey with Jesus. It gets better as the years go by. My blessings out weigh all the trails and tears. I plan to continue my journey until Jesus calls and I can hear him say, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Bro. Randy Mangram
Bro. Randy received the Holy Ghost on November 8th. He died almost a month later on December 2nd. But, during the 3.5 weeks he had the Holy Ghost he had invited 149 people to church. What a wonderful miracle! Sis. Katie
At the age of 84, Sis. Katie was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Sis. Francis Sutton
Sis. Francis Sutton had a special burden for the church. She and her son Frankee were very faithful , but was only with us for a short time before the Lord called her home - the hope that all Jesus Name people share.
